0823Katherine comes from a family of 12. With farming as the family’s main source of income, and her father as the only breadwinner in the family, Katherine, much like four of her siblings, was sent to live with her relatives who could send them to school.

Katherine was taken in by her aunt (father’s cousin) in Taytay and has been living with her ever since. She communicates with her family in Bicol through calls and text messages. According to her grandmother (her aunt’s mother), Katherine started living with them since she was just in Grade One. They are supporting Katherine’s education from the income of a small canteen owned by her aunt.

This school year 2016-2017, Katherine is one of the beneficiaries of LFI-A Better Chance Foundation Night High School Educational Assistance Project at Siena College Taytay as she enters Grade 7.

LFI is honored to assist Katherine in her education towards the fulfillment of her dream of becoming a teacher.
