In a meeting yesterday 04 July 2016 with LFI, UP Engineering Research & Development Foundation, Inc. (UPERDFI) President Alfonso A. Aliga Jr., expressed gratitude to Lao Foundation for the opportunity to revive its funding request for the “LFI-UPERDFI College Educational Assistance Project”. The project, which was put on hold last year, is intended for the financially challenged students of University of the Philippines Diliman College of Engineering (UPDCOE) enrolled in the last two years of their undergraduate studies (4th and 5th years). These needy seniors will receive support in their last years of college through the educational assistance.
UPERDFI was duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 3, 1972 as a non-stock, non-profit organization to provide support to develop the technological competencies of the UP College of Engineering Center through Faculty Development, Research and Development, Laboratory Facilities, support staff and undergraduate and graduate studies. The Foundation’s programs focused on: Scholarship Grants, Professorial Chairs, Teaching & Research Grants; Faculty Award and Incentives; and Merit Awards. It was accredited by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification in April 20, 2004.
Lao Foundation is interested in partnering with UPERDFI to help those struggling senior students. LFI expects UPERDFI to comply with all documentation requirements, as well as a values formation - life skills program for the ultimate beneficiaries.
