Teach for the Philippines led by their Chief Strategic Resources Officer Patricia Feria Lim visited Lao Foundation for an exploratory meeting last May 5, 2016.
Teach for the Philippines (TFP) is a for-purpose, non-stock, non-profit organization that works to provide all Filipino children with an inclusive, relevant, and excellent education. They enlist some of the country’s most promising young leaders to teach for two years in public schools throughout the Philippines. Through their experiences in the classroom, TFP transforms the leaders into lifelong advocates for education equity.
They are led by young, civic-minded, and entrepreneurial individuals with a bias for action. They focus on results and work intelligently towards a better education for all. As citizens, they are committed to being the change they want to see in the country.
During the meeting possible synergies between both organizations were discussed and the areas for further exploration are:
- Determine interest of Principals of Libis Elementary School and Bagumbayan Elementary School for a TPF Teacher Fellow project, and for TFP Fellows to possibly assist in the ongoing LFI-Binhi English Literacy projects.
- TFP to introduce their program to LFI-CFFI College Scholarship project graduates and encourage them to join the TPF Teacher Fellowship program.
- TFP to send a formal proposal to Lao Foundation following their exploratory meetings with principals.
Teach for the Philippines is excited about the prospect of a partnership with Lao Foundation. LFI is very positive about this.
