“Thank you for saving my life” – The World Blood Donor Day 2015 Theme

On June 14 of each year the World Health Organization celebrates around the world the World Blood Donor Day. It aims to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank donors for their contribution to saving lives.

Three weeks before the world celebrates the Blood Donor Day, Lao Foundation Incorporated in partnership with Philippine General Hospital (PGH) held its biannual bloodletting activity on May 21 at the old LBL canteen. Dr. Leonard Sena, Dr. Christelle Anne Almanon, Dr. Mark Austine Onglao, Mr. Erwin Bacal, Mr. John Paul Tolentino and Mr. Lordecito Elman from PGH headed the blood donation.

A total of 36 blood bags were collected from the 46 D&L personnel who participated. The 10 donors interested denied to donate blood were due to cold, taking certain medication, low hemoglobin count and have had dental extraction.

Lao Foundation was very privilege to have an active participation in the said campaign. Special thanks to HRD and to the following for making the blood letting activity happen.
