Another remarkable event for the D&L Group of Companies when management and employees gathered for the 11th Lao Boh Lim Educational Excellence Awards Ceremony (LBL EEA) held on 16 May 2015 at the LBL Compound.
The crowd in attendance was estimated to be around 400, and among them were 169 awardees. For 2015, a total of 223 employees’ children composed of 100 elementary students, 73 high school students, 45 college students and 5 with special awards were awarded cash rewards and certificates.
The Philippine Christian Foundation chorale opened the awarding ceremony with their performance of “Who Am I?” followed by the National Anthem. During mid-program intermission, they also sang “Higher and higher”.
Alix Reyes of Chemrez Marketing, and Marie Monse Alfaro, an awardee, were the emcees of the program.
LFI’s Paul Alfaro opened the program with an anecdote emphasizing that values acquired by the awardees in the LBL EEA program are most important than the rewards they received. He also showed some statistics on the number of awardees for the past years.
Chris Lao, Market Development Manager of Oleo-Fats shared in his address that the awarding ceremony coincides with the death anniversary of his grandfather Lao Boh Lim. He inspired the awardees to continue to excel in their studies and keeping in mind the values of that the company embraces.
Gerremie Bual, consistent LBL awardees and who graduated magna cum laude, said “the award is not merely a financial support but also served as a motivation. The thought of being able to help your parents financially by merely studying hard appealed a lot to me and fueled me to do better each academic year”.
For the parents’ response, Danny Valen reminded the students that instead of spending time on the internet they should be focusing more on their studies.
For the closing remarks, Mr. Ramon Taniola (HRD Director) praised the LBLEEA awardees who consistently received the awards for 11 consecutive years.
During the ceremony the awardees made their customary bows to show their gratitude to the MANCOM and parents.
Aside from the cash reward, HRD clinic secured gift vouchers from Metro Dental worth P500.00 each and these were only given to the awardees who were present in the event. The usual group picture taking with big LBL EEA tarpaulin was done per level.
